What is S3 object storage?
Simple Storage Service is a modern way to store data where files are saved as objects instead of traditional folders. Each object gets a unique ID and is stored in a so-called bucket.
What is S3 storage used for?
S3 is flexible and can be used for several types of data, for example:
- Backup and long-term storage
- Archiving and release of expensive primary storage
- Logs, application data and media files
- Container-based applications and AI/analytics
Can I move data from other platforms?
Yes. Since Cloudist is S3-compatible, you can easily migrate storage from AWS S3, Veeam, Wasabi, NetApp, TrueNAS, Synology and similar systems without changing the configuration.
Does Cloudist S3 meet GDPR?
All data is stored in our datacenters in Sweden and meets GDPR and Swedish legislation. Cloudist is also certified according to ISO 27001 (information security) and ISO 14001 (environment).
How does S3 storage work technically?
