Cloudist launches dual-platform: VMware and KVM/Virtuozzo in the same Virtual Data Center

2025-09-30

The biggest product announcement since the company's inception gives customers choice between two validated technologies without compromising user experience

Malmö, October 1, 2025 – Cloudist AB takes a historic step forward by launching a dual-platform in its Virtual Data Center. As of today, customers can choose between VMware and KVM/Virtuozzo, both delivered from the same intuitive interface and from Cloudist's green data centers.

The launch represents the most comprehensive product development in the company's history and responds to clear market demand for increased flexibility and choice.

"This is the biggest news since we started Cloudist," says Jasenko Masic, CEO of Cloudist. "We have built our position on being the cloud provider our partners and customers can trust. Now we're taking that step further by giving them more choice without compromise. Whether you choose VMware for its enterprise standard or KVM/Virtuozzo for its flexibility and new possibilities, you get the same quality, the same Swedish data locality, and the same sustainability commitment."

Two platforms, one experience

Cloudist Virtual Data Center now offers:

  • VMware Cloud Director – Continued validated VMware platform for companies requiring enterprise standards and ecosystem compatibility

  • KVM/Virtuozzo – Open source-based virtualization with high performance and new possibilities

  • One intuitive interface – Manage both platforms from the same portal

  • Same sustainability commitment – 100% renewable energy and green data centers regardless of platform

  • Swedish data locality – All data stored according to Swedish legislation

"Technically, we have built a solution that is unique in the Swedish market," explains Robert Brink, Cloud Architect at Cloudist. "Our customers no longer need to choose between security and possibility. They can run VMware workloads that require it, while getting broader possibilities with KVM. All from the same provider, same support, same SLA. This opens completely new possibilities for how IT providers can build hybrid solutions for their customers."

Response to market needs

The launch comes at a time when the cloud market is undergoing significant changes. Broadcom's acquisition of VMware has created uncertainty around pricing and licensing models, while demand for flexible alternatives has increased dramatically.

"Our partners and customers have asked for this," continues Masic. "They don't want to be locked into a single technology or provider. By offering both VMware and KVM, we give them the freedom to choose the right tool for each project, without having to switch providers or learn new systems. That's what real partnership is about."

Available now

The dual-platform is available as of today for all new and existing customers. Existing VMware installations continue to function without interruption, while new projects can choose freely between the technologies.

Cloudist maintains its transparent pricing with daily billing and no lock-in period, regardless of which platform customers choose.
